i don't wanna grow up, i'm a toys'r'us kid
Just came back from a nice weekend in Jerusalem. Right now I'm chillin in Molly's room, most likely heading to bed soon.
I talked to my mom today about a summer job. My ideal, totally awesome, perfect place to work would be Milford Photo. It's the best place ever. One problem: I don't have any training. And it seems like everyone who works there knows everything. They're so nice though, and I could do cash registery-type things. That'd be great. I wish. If Athen's would give me (at the very least) actual minimum wage, I might consider going back there since I liked it so much. My mom said that she goes in there once a week and they always ask about me, and that the pictures I put on the bulletin board are still there. That makes me happy. :) I hope Corinne is still working there.
Moving on. For tomorrow Yael has assigned me to working in the guest house instead of the fields. Crazy Pesach, this is the only time of the year I think they actually need us. It's nice though, I get to start later and end early. And my kibbutz ema works in the guest house so maybe I'll get to spend some time with her, that will be nice.
Anyways. I guess I'm going to sleep now, Jerusalem makes me tired.
Goodnight.

i got the backstage betties takin more than they can get
Sometimes I am so spontaneous I just can't get over it.
Just kidding. But seriously. Last night Matan and I were going to Jerusalem to take Elana and her friends back (they were on Kibbutz for Shabbat, it was fun) and we were walking to the bus stop, and were like...why don't we stay in Jerusalem for the night? Then we won't have to worry about catching the last bus out or anything. We originally planned to get up at 5 am the next morning to be back on Kibbutz in time for work, but then were like, screw it, we're takin the day off. So we stayed at the Jlem hostel for the night and slept late. It was awesome. :-D Last night we met up with Matan's friends from Pilgrimage and hung out with them for a bit. We went to some bar on that scary road that's directly next to Ben Yehuda. It was fun, Matan's friends were nice.
I'm excited for Matan to come visit me in Milford, seeing as I have met a bajillion of his friends because so many of his friends are Jewish and therefore go to Israel, but he has met none of mine. It's quite unfair, as I have so many names to remember and he has almost none.
Anyways. Today we had breakfast in bed (bagel with lox, going fancy) walked around Ben Yehuda a bit, rather unsuccessfully as we didn't really accomplish any of our shopping goals, then we went to the Old City, one of our favorite pastimes. We bought some bread things and sat outside the Kotel eating our bread things and people-watching. It was great. We're a couple of happy old people. :-D
And then we pretty much came back to Kibbutz. Matan made a bonfire, which has come to be one his favorite hobbies, and I sat and watched him make a bonfire, which has come to be one of mine.
Tomorrow's a Yom Nativ, but Jules is talking to us about Conservative Judaism again. I like Jules, he knew where Milford was. I was really excited.
Now I think it's bedtime, as I am a sleepy Vv and we get to sleep late tomorrow, so I'm taking advantage of that. After Yom Nativ I got a date with Shosh. :-D And I'm hoping to start my painting project tomorrow. It's wonderful, staying so busy when you have absolutely nothing to do. I wish the real world was like kibbutz.

i come from a land down under
I'm currently chillin in the cute little sketch hostel in Jerusalem which I have come to refer to in my mind as 'my hostel.' We've been here since Friday, the room is comfortably messy but we have to leave soon so we need to clean it up.
Let's see... Friday I tremped into Jerusalem with an Argentinian man from Ein Tzurim who happened to be going to Beit Nativ. So that was convenient, also faster than the bus and free. I met Matan at the hostel and we were once again forced to hang out the hostel for like an hour while they finished our room. We did a bunch of errands and then walked to Shira Chadasha for Kabbalat Shabbat. The woman sitting next to my saw my siddur (which is nicely decorated) and asked me if I was currently on Nativ. It turns out that her daughter, who's a junior, is thinking about going on Nativ 28. Funky. So I talked up the program a little and felt beneficial to the conservative movement for a sec.
On Saturday we went to Corey's for lunch, she worked with my mom for a semester at Yale. I was happy, I don't know anybody in Israel so connections are valuable to me. Matan talked political talk with the other men who were there and we found out that one of the guys knew Avram. Corey's really nice, and their apartment is absolutely beautiful. High ceilings (which I am a huge fan of) big, open, spaces, and lots of light.
I think the rest of Saturday, at least until nightfall, we just sort of sat around and read and were old people. Which is one of my favorite things. Saturday night, one of Matan's friends from home was here on some volunteer trip so we hung out with her on Ben Yehuda, and it turned out that one of her friends was on Shosh's pilgrimage trip. I wasn't feeling too good though, so eventually I went back to the hostel and went to sleep.
This morning we're hanging around until it's time to meet everybody at Beit Nativ.
Leadership Seminar Week. Joy.

to be continued
Quiet night on Kibbutz. Not that's anything special at all. Matan's in Tel Aviv, I completely forgot that he was leaving today as opposed to tomorrow, so I felt really really bad when he called and was like, yeah I'm in Castina. Now I don't get to see him for a whole two days. Sad. :(
Molly, Abbie, and I have been watching Gilmore Girls for like three hours, now we're gonna go watch one more episode.
More later.

"that's an oxymoron." "what did you just call me?"
It's almost Shabbat/Purim time. I'm so excited, we're having a dance party tomorrow night motzei Shabbat. A DJ and everything, like in USY. Haha, I know, no more USY. But hey, we can all use a good dance party sometimes. Did I mention it's a costume party? Matan gave me his old basketball uniform, it's got "SILBERSTEIN" printed in big letters across the back. So I'm going to wear that and carry around a little basketball and pretend I'm in the NBA. I'll probably wear it for an hour or so and then go and change into dancey clothes. Did I also mention that it's Nativ-wide, and not just Kibbutz? It'll be nice to all be together again. And, it was gonna be in Beersheva, but then they couldn't get the space so now it's here. Yay!
Today was nice. Just relaxed and stuff. Poor Matan's sick though, he's got a nasty fever. :( He's been lying in bed all day. I feel so bad. His room's hot and stuffy and germy so I made them open the window, but I don't know how much it's going to help. Poor guy. I hope he's better soon.
Shabbat time, just about. Gonna go finish up a few things and get myself to services (blech, Nativ davening - but anything's better than our two options here. The synagogue puts women as high and far away as possible as the men, and at the yeshiva, the women gave us dirty looks when we were singing.)
Shabbat Shalom and Purim Sameach!
